Foreclosure Defense

Relief From Mortgage Debt

Unmanageable mortgage debt can be the cause of tremendous anxiety. If you are like many people who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments, you might be struggling with visions of foreclosure signs on your yard, marshals showing up at your door and perhaps even criminal penalties.

If you are in danger of losing your home, do not waste time worrying; contact a lawyer immediately. I can help you understand your rights and protect your interests in the foreclosure process. Call me at 203-583-8668 before things get worse.

I am Jennifer LaRese, a Southbury attorney and founder of the Law Offices of Jennifer LaRese, LLC. With nearly a decade of legal experience focused exclusively on debt relief law, I have a thorough understanding of the various legal options available to you.

Personalized, Compassionate Legal Service

I can help you look at the various options available for foreclosure defense:

  • Loan modifications: If your creditors have not filed for foreclosure yet, there is a possibility of loan modification discussions. Creditors often understand that job loss, underemployment, sudden medical bills and other issues can cause honest people to fall behind on their payments. Further, most creditors want to avoid having to list a home and sell it. They are often ready to discuss modifying the terms of mortgages.
  • Foreclosure mediation: If the creditor has filed for foreclosure, I can help you work with the lender and court mediators to work out a repayment plan. Foreclosure mediation includes court-ordered sessions in which you and I will meet with the court, followed by other sessions that include the lender. Then it is up to the lender to issue a decision that could include a lower interest rate, forbearance or other alterations to the repayment plan.
  • Chapter 13 bankruptcy: In many cases, it is possible to use Chapter 13 bankruptcy as a means for avoiding foreclosure.

Beware of debt foreclosure scams. Many of these companies are running scams, without a licensed attorney on staff, and they often add no value to their customers. Work with an experienced foreclosure defense lawyer.
